Character Information

Name: Albert Wesker
Age: 38 or thereabouts
Fandom: Resident Evil
PB: Jude Law
Sexual Orientation: Asexual, for the most part. More precisely, if he’s going to be engaging in anything sexual, it’s almost certainly going to be for some purpose beyond lust or just having sex for the sake of having it. He would do it to earn somebody’s trust, to convince somebody, to manipulate somebody -- essentially, he would do it if it’s a convenient means to an end and for that reason he’s not likely to discriminate between the sexes.

Appearance: Wesker is 6’0. He has a fair complexion and pale blond hair that he keeps neatly combed away from his face. Prior to infection, his eyes were blue and his build was that of a healthy (though noticeably older) soldier. Post-infection, his body appears younger, somewhat leaner, as the result of a heightened metabolism and the virus’ regenerative abilities, and he shows no signs of aging any further. He tends to favor dark, expensive suits. Overall, his appearance is sleek, professional, and deceptively human. His only visible mutation is in his eyes, now sulphuric yellow, with snake-like pupils outlined by a ring of red. Obviously for the sake of this experiment, his eyes will be made to appear to blue again.

Personality: Albert Wesker’s number one priority has always been his own self-interest. If one were to stretch the definition of a real friend to its very limits, William Birkin, a former colleague, would be the closest thing he’s ever had to one, but even he served another purpose in the end.

At his most social Wesker is cool, calm, and generally impassive, but only rude when provoked. He is virtually incapable of empathy and views the people around him like pawns to be used and discarded at his leisure. He is obsessed with power, but his insatiable craving for it is unique in that he doesn’t necessarily want it for what it can do; he wants it for what it is. If he can’t have it, then he is content to covet and admire it until he can devise a way to take it for himself.

Those of no use to him or those who have outlived their usefulness survive by staying well out of way of his goals, as the wealth of patience he does possess is reserved solely for what may benefit him in the long run and he is perfectly indifferent to the notion of collateral damage.

Those individuals he can find a purpose for are the ones at greatest risk. An accomplished liar and actor, he is at his most comfortable when jamming the proverbial - and sometimes literal - knife between some unsuspecting fool’s vertebrae and the more outraged they are, the more likely he is to take great pleasure in the - again, sometimes literal - twist at the end.

History:
[*Note: This history was written prior to the release of RE5 and because this player happens to think RE5 sucked horribly, the events that took place in RE5, including all the awful retconning, are not being acknowledged.]
Between 1977 and 1991, he was Doctor Albert Wesker, virologist and chief researcher with UmbrellaCorp’s secret bio-organic weapons branch. He and his colleague, WIlliam Birkin, were responsible for studying, synthesizing, and later developing weapons from the T(yrant)-virus.

In 1991, he transferred to Umbrella’s ‘Information Bureau’ and in 1995, still with Umbrella’s secret service, he founded the Special Tactics and Rescue Squad of the Raccoon City PD under dual pretenses; to ‘protect and serve’ the civilians of Raccoon City as any good policeman should, lending the elite abilities of his team in the event of a crime outbreak or disaster, and to conceal whatever hints of Umbrella’s atrocities might arise during those very same incidents. All the while, he was quietly feeding Umbrella secrets to a rival organization in order to bargain his way into their ranks.

By 1998, the inevitable outbreak occurred and spread quickly between Umbrella’s oldest research complexes, the Arklay Training Facility and Spencer Estate, located in the mountains just outside Raccoon City. Escaped carriers of the T-Virus were quick to pick off lone joggers, catching the public notice and spurring both Umbrella’s and Wesker’s respective plans into action.

Under Umbrella’s orders, Wesker and Birkin were sent in to find the source of the outbreak at Arklay. Simultaneously, Wesker dispatched the STARS Bravo team and a UBCS (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service) squad to investigate. The cause of the outbreak turned out to be intentional, released by a virally-mutated genetic copy of Doctor James Marcus in belated revenge for his murder and subsequent thieving of early progenitor virus research by his two favorite pupils, Wesker and Birkin.

Wesker returned to the RCPD in order to join STARS Alpha team on the invented mission of locating and retrieving the missing Bravos. His objective under Umbrella’s direction was to lure the Alphas to the Spencer Estate, collect the combat data from pitting carefully trained soldier against BOW of various types, and in the unlikely event of any survivors, eliminate them before setting off the self-destruct mechanism within the facility.

Betraying Umbrella would bring unwanted attention to his prospective employers and to avoid swift retribution Wesker’s choice was to fake his death. At some point leading up to the mission with the Alphas, Wesker injected himself a viral cocktail specially created by Birkin, so when the time came to wake the sleeping tyrant specimen from stasis in the Spencer labs and provoke it into attacking, the eviscerating blow that would kill him only kept him floored for as long as it took the virus in his body to work its magic, repairing all but what would come to be a long, ugly scar running the length of his abdomen where the tyrant’s talons entered his body and another, smaller scar on the middle of his back where the largest talon exited.

After escaping the blast of the facilities self-destruct mechanism, right under the noses of the remaining STARS, Wesker fell easily into the role of puppetmaster, pulling the strings of various agents during the Raccoon City outbreak. His team later harvested the new G-Virus from Birkin’s corpse before the American government wiped the festering city off the map.

Months later, Wesker would step out of the shadows again to attack and infect Umbrella’s military training facility and family home of co-founder Alexander Ashford, Rockfort Island, to obtain a sample of the T-Veronica virus. Due to the meddling of STARS member Chris Redfield, Alexia Ashford, sole carrier of the T-Veronica, would be destroyed, forcing Wesker to harvest the sample this time from the corpse of Claire Redfield’s companion, whom Alexia had infected in revenge for the murder of her twin shortly before her death.

Between 1999 and 2004, Wesker kept himself busy by climbing the ranks within one organization or another, planting agents within the government and elsewhere for future convenience, and collecting as many samples and as much data as possible. With mind to the Ashford twins, Wesker has made a sport of hunting down the last of Umbrella’s loyalists and as a result of killing Sergei Vladimir in Russia, has come to possess all the information Umbrella ever had at its disposal, copied onto disc from the artificially intelligent mainframe Vladimir rescued from Raccoon City years prior.

In 2004, Wesker used former government agent Jack Krauser to infiltrate the Los Illuminados by convincing their leader to infect him with Las Plagas parasite and volunteering to kidnap Ashley Graham, daughter of the US president. The purpose was to create a diversion in chaos that ensued and once again dispatch Ada Wong to retrieve a sample, this time of the master parasite, prized for its ability to control the bodies and minds of others infected with Las Plagas. With his purpose fulfilled, Ada would later tie up loose ends by killing Krauser, but also switch the samples to betray Wesker for an organization known only as ‘S’.

In-Game History: In Harmony, Wesker had an ordinary childhood in ordinary house on an ordinary street somewhere in Harmony. He has little to know interest in his family, and rarely mentions in any significant detail where he's been or what he's gotten up to over the past twenty years. Currently, he works for the government and shares a home with his fiancée, Cymoril Avalon.
